Reggio-Emilia around the world.

Reggio-Emilia, Italy
Having practiced the Reggio-Emilia philosophy since 1997, I have traveled to Italy a handful of times to participate in their world-renowned International Group Studies.
Bringing my education home to Little Bears, I have focused on the environment as the third teacher, encouraging children to explore while fostering a sense of curiosity and wonder. Teachers collaborate with the children as they question and investigate their world

Sweden
In 2024, I attended NAREAs (North American Reggio-Emilia Alliance) first group trip to Stockholm, Sweden.
Studying at the Stockholm Reggio Emilia Institute, I was able to tour many different centres and began dialogue with other experienced educators. In Sweden, the Reggio approach emphasizes a holistic, student-centred, and constructivist learning experience similar to what we practice here at Little Bears.

New Zealand
The Reggio-Emilia approach aligns well with the New Zealand and British Columbia (ELF) curricula. The Te Whariki has a strong emphasis on child-centred learning while valuing children as competent learners and co-constructors.
While travelling to Reggio, I was serendipitously fortunate to meet a group of New Zealand ECE's who I immediately gravitated to. They have invited me back to New Zealand for professional development opportunities over the past 6 years and I have happily hosted them here as well.
